When the Brain Tricks You

What is good for you does not necessarily means it is good for me.

"Em-pir'i-cism n. 1. The view that experience, especially of the senses, is the only source of knowledge."

This apparently seems to not only be the problem among philosophers, but within our social conduct as well. Empiricism. Sounds a bit too much or almost redundant for many people to find some bit of effort to learn it meanings. I can simplify this.

"I think it is correct and what you think is wrong,"

Well, empiricism in this matter is that people tend to believe what they see, listen, smell and touch. It's not that it is wrong to do that but there's this line dividing the sceptics and the non-sceptical people. Okey, of course when you see the ball is round, it is round, or is it really? Well, lets leave this part of philosophy right there because I'm confused myself.

Anyway, the point of this theory is that what you think is right does not necessarily apply to everyone else in this world. Say, to the simplest occasion, when he tastes the food is delicious, does not mean that it is delicious to his pretty brunette date too. Although, there's this high possibility she might enjoy the food as well but lets play with the small odd we have here. Most of the time, there is always this possibility, big or small, that you are wrong in what you think. I'm not demotivating you to decide on anything afterward. Just that there are times people are so stubborn that they can't open their minds to accept suggestions or opinion of others. Arrogance. Ego. Prick. Bastards. Well, they are many kinds of these people. It's even worse when tolerance and understanding can't be achieved and thus war occurs. Well probably not to that extreme but you get the idea. The point is, how far you are willing to tolerate with this many kind of people? You do understand that different people led different ways of life thus their perceptions fall under many vary angles which may be far from your tolerance of logical thinking. Crime can be justified. Lawyers are trained for this. That boy murdered that dude. Why? Because if he didn't, that dude might kill 10 others. For many parts of the world, that boy will be safe in his trial of justice. However, there this small odd that the boy is going to the court where he will be sentenced to death. Are you living in this small part of the world?

Nonetheless, you can believe whatever you want to believe. It's your choice to do decide on what you want to do on anything. There's always this power of persuasion that you can convince people around you that you are right and they should follow your way of thinking. What works for you might work for many other people as well. Arguments are suppose to be objected to achieve the betterment of the discussion, not winners. We always want to improve our lives. Day to day from here to there. What should we see? Is it okey to listen to that? How do you know when you made the right decision? Putting your foot down and deal with the consequences. In some thoughts, there are right and wrong decisions. Nonetheless, many times its just either right and left path to choose from. Deal with the consequences. I'd rather live in a way I am certain than living in confusion. Mysterious is cool but there is limit.

What do I think? I think we should learn to understand each other and tolerate every bit of annoyance people do. There's very small need for us to yell at anyone in the burst of irritation. Do remember that loud noise is a kind of pollution. Nonetheless, be sensible. I like the principle of Wasatiah in Islam. The balance. Don't overdo things. We all know we shouldn't be reckless but don't overdoing it by being a paranoid. We should be understanding but don't be too much of accepting. Ahh, thus there you go my definition of Wasatiah. I do want to remember one thing; it is okey to be creative and invents many ways of thinkings. However, there are reasons why there are many mazhabs in Islam exists in this world. Thus, we can always return back to our Holy Book of al-Quran so that we won't get that carried away.

Again, this is what I think. What is good for me is not necessarily good for you. However, there is this possibility that it is. Welcome to the casino of life.

You know what? Humour is often the best antidote in life. There's this KL International Buskers Festival around Kuala Lumpur between 2 and 10 of December 2006. Check it out!
