I work on Saturdays, so unfortunate. Does that make me value my Sunday more? I only get one day in a week to wake up late in the afternoon. Well, I like sleep. I like waking up in the afternoon, or precisely I don't like waking up early in the morning. Probably not that I don't like waking up early, just I'm not that used to it. Perhaps my body is tuned up to turn active under afternoon UV and heat. Maybe a lot of us are like that. Maybe I'm the only one who has trouble waking up early in the morning. Once I had a conversation with a dear friend, wake up early in the morning and a lot of other good things will come after. Bangun pagi murah rezeki kata orang-orang tua la kan. I agree of course. Well, its not like any of those usual heavy arguments anyway where it's a difficult decision to make. Everyone knows waking up late is not good damnit!
So wake up early in the morning, why is it so hard? It's like chocolate. It feels good but not very healthy and fattening, or if later it is proven chocolate is actually good for us then I'll switch my metaphor to cigarette or drug whichever relevant. The point is, I do wish to be a vegetarian, ergo; I do want to be a morning person. Metaphorically and literally, respectively. Yet, I spend my Sunday morning on bed until afternoon. Such unproductive behaviour. Sigh. I pity myself. I wish I can wake up in the morning naturally, not due to obligation on anything; work, events, classes, etc. I'm working on it by the way, sadly, very slowly.
They say the simplest solution is to sleep early. Sigh. Now that's another topic.
The second time I went to the KL Land Office yesterday, she wasn't there. I was, actually, disappointed. Yet, a bit relieved. What could I've done anyway?
I can't make anything out of nothing.
This afternoon, I went there for the third time, because of my amateur-ish in regard to this land matter, I've failed to run my tasks efficiently- not because that I wanted to find the lady at counter no.9 again due to her absence the day before. Today, she's at counter no.12. My task needs only to be done at counter no.7, which is further away now. That doesn't stopped me from passing through nearby her counter to take a closer look at this fair lady - she looks like in her late 20s or early 30s. Still lovely nonetheless heheheh. Erk, lupa tengok nama die sape!
"Ala mintak je la no. tepon die,"
My colleague's suggestion sounded so easy. The idea of a guy approaching a girl asking for her phone number out of nowhere seems so natural to her. I, perhaps, am not one of those cool guys who can comfortably approach a girl just simply like that. I repeat, and thus emphasize; I can't make anything out of nothing. I need a common medium. She could have worked at the Planning Department at Level 2, or counter no. 5 to 7 so that I can have something to initiate and make something out of it, but no, unfortunately, she did not. Sigh.
Take all my past scandals for instance. I always had something to use to initiate and make something out of it. You ladies remember? Anyway, let it be as small as picking up her keys she 'accidentally' dropped, be in the same line of queue for coffee, or in job-related purpose where she happens to be one of my consultants for the current projects I involve in or an office clerk in MBSA helping me to sort out my authorities checklist.
I can't make anything out of nothing.
I wish I can. I think I will. Perhaps, when the right woman falls in sight, when the path opens up and nothing else matters anymore, when time stops and never the room seems so ever clear (which explains why she seems so radiantly beautiful), and the only logical thing to do then is to be brave, and everything else will follow after.
I hardly believe in love at first sight. Perhaps, I've yet to meet one, or actually I did and I screwed it up. Cupid said, "Forget it, this guy is hopeless. Lets shoot some sheeps instead."
Thought of the day: What's the immediate implication of this post-election period?
Would the political instability causes investment insecurity? Through the purity of the process of democracy eliminating the corrupted from the system, who would suffer as the casualty of wars? Let them be who've had their share of sins drinking blood money from the deprived and innocents, but how far would this modern day Robin Hood would take responsibility marching into this historical reformation in our country?
I'm all good for something different - a new revolution. Changes can be very difficult. Despite the possibility that a lot can be gained through this massive shift in the governing direction, how dignified can the great Robin Hood be in defending its integrity for the coming days?
Sigh. The temptation to be among these stereotypical youngsters demonstrating some immature political ideas.
I had a bit of a rough start in the morning at work. 3 staffs were on leave today and in this small department, that's a significant loss in labour to run the office effectively. Thus, it was a tiring trip till lunch, yet, risen to brighten up my remaining hours of the day with a masterpiece sight captured during my lunch break at a mamak restaurant nearby office this afternoon - a table consists of Malay, Chinese and Indian girls dining comfortably and happily together. Don't you just love that?
Tomorrow I hope would be my second trip to the Pejabat Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. A couple of documents obtained from my previous trip need to be revised and a few new Official Land Searches need to be purchased. Please Don Juan De Marco do give me courage to initiate something of your worthy with the lovely lady behind Kaunter No.9. Sigh.
Every chatting box opened, most of the blogs visited, newspapers headlines, morning televisions, well of course, Malaysia's 12th General Election 2008 is unsurprisingly the most popular topic nowadays. I just can't help it to be among the stereotypes - just a little winy bit.
.
There. Ok, now moving on, last week my mentor and I visited our architect for our Batu 3 Shah Alam project at his office in Subang Jaya. I think it's rather one of the tricks of the trade to carry out surprise visits to our consultants, to observe the working environment of that we, representing the client, are investing in. This usually occurs when the consultants, ranging from architects, engineers and surveyors, are not performing their tasks well as expected. There are times when there are these overly-ambitious consultant firms that only consist of fewer than 5 staffs handling projects worth over RM100 million, plus a few other projects in hand. This had happened back then when my dad was directing a massive project for UiTM Kelantan and during his visit to one of his consultants, the office was just a small cube shared with a photocopy and paper shop in a small shop lot in a small town in Kota Bharu. Two engineers was sitting down sharing the only table inside the cube and thus imagine their faces when their client along with my dad was greeting them by the small plywood door.
Anyway, we were just trying to make sure that our project is on the right track. We need to keep in control of our consultants. Termination should not be executed just as easy. Our consultants are not doing a good job, we visit them and see what's going on. Dig down to the core of the problem, cure, improvise and pray that better results are expected to come. Plus, its a tactful way to pressure the consultants telling them that their job is at stake.
Anyway, these recent entries are just a start of something I would like to try on, writing a journal about my training in Crest Builder Holdings under the Property and Land Development Department. Writing should keep my heads up and wishfully to be better in doing what I do hereafter. It does feel good knowing that you have some worth of doing something good.
I bid you reader, good day and have a good coming week.
Here's a story about my dad. Not too sure whether it will jeopardize his position or not, but I'd say its good to share for the younger generations. So discreet I will try to be.
He was having a casual lunch at a restaurant in XXX Pacific with a group of fellow engineers and builders. No business purposes, maybe. He was actually having a XXX million worth of project in his hand, so like a blueberry pie on a stove, hungry, or even just pie-loving people out of nowhere do come near to take a sniff. Anyway, in the middle of the lunch meeting, a very important person just walked into the restaurant and sat at the table next to my dad's. He used to work with this person before, and thus, he had to stand up and greet the person, in obligation of respect.
It happened to be that one of his lunch companion was the executive director for one of the leading consultant engineering firm in the country, as he was following a friend of my dad to this particular lunch. Seeing my dad shaking hands and having comfortable conversation with thy important person, he pulled out his business card in his pocket and set to propose an offer for my dad to become a sleeping partner for his company.
My dad does not actually know thy important person really well. He just once worked together for a small amount of time and he thought it would be rude to not say hello, especially since its a person of a far superior position and status. Thy fooled Mr. Executive Director thought my dad is as superior, and seeing him having such a good connection with thy important person, he thought my dad must be equally thy important as well. Plus, he needs a Bumiputra partner, which may raise another issue, heheh.
Anyway, the point is, whatever you can conclude from the story, be friendly. Simple. Say hello to anyone, or better perhaps, everyone even you're far from having any close relationship with thy annoying person. Have a good minute conversation is enough for you to open some other doors for rezeki to come in. Interesting. I need to practice my PR skills. This coming week might be a good chance since there'll be a number of meetings and visits to the building authorities. Have a good week everyone.
Owh by the way, recently, I think my dad and I conversed a lot (Of course since I tumpang him every morning going to work). More towards the building industry type of conversation though. Yet, still good I have to say. He's gradually starting to accept me as an adult. So, you can expect a few stories - something of an overwhelming experienced engineer and a super rookie project manager wannabe this coming weeks, before the naggings and complaints start kicking in heheh.
Commercial buildings do not require developer's license and advertising permit. Residential, however, does so. The Housing Developer Act (Control and License) 1966 (Act118) and the Housing Developers Regulation are aimed to protect the interest of house buyers. However, it does not apply on commercial units such as hotels, business premises, etc.
A mixed development of serviced apartments with shop lots.
It does not require developer's license and advertising permit - hence, trimming down the process reducing period of development process and cost. The Housing Developers Act and Regulations do not apply - hence, clients or developers are free to influence sales and purchase agreement to their advantages.
Clever.
It has changed since April last year in 2007. The Ministry of Housing and Local Government issued a new terms and conditions to apply for the developer license and advertising permit. Hence, no more of those clever schemes, and to expect new ones to come soon.
I might be wrong though. I'm not that a very good listener. Heh.
A condominium in Mont Kiara in planning - 40 storey high residential towers on top of a 6 storey car park basement on the border of Segambut and Mont Kiara with the nearest road access is about 500m away and in between is a 21m deep canyon/gorge/fall (I'm not really sure what term do they use).
I wouldn't mind those fella we find on the streets, topless and running around counting pebbles on the sidewalk. You can find crazy people here in the property development firms.
The late Lim Goh Tong created a paradise in the middle of a jungle out of nowhere and soon to be the nation's leading corporation. Robert CM Tan kick-started the multi-billion dollars project during the 1997 national economy crisis that now millions of consumers walking in and out of the commercial haven everyday.
This is rather an ironic entry, or possibly I misused the word. Either way, jakun is all I am.
It's about 11:45pm right now, just went into halftime of watching the Carling Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs - and about 7 hours before I have to make a move to work from my home. I am really tired. It's my brother's birthday just this afternoon and I went to KLIA just a few hours earlier to send Chap off back to Melbourne.
Tired. I rarely actually value this term of defining our state of body and mind. I often used it as a stereotypical remarks on certain behaviours or actions - "Ahh, penat sial main bola," or "Penat seh buat mende alah nih,". I hardly meant it. I did felt tired though, but never actually drained enough to complain about it.
Tired. I actually really am. Should I go to sleep now?
I spend a lot of my time in a day surfing through the internet. Not mostly, so I’m somewhat glad. Mostly browsing the wonderful world of YouTube, in quest to find the most awesome video ever exists. During the early part of the adventure, I’ve met quite a number of jesters lurking around the comedy channel. I love comedy. I am no comedian though, but hey, I love to be comedied. Don’t we all? Russell Peters with his racial based humour, Jeff Dunham with his Achmed, Maz Jobrani the Persian Cat, Demetri Martin with his visual pad, Ellen Degeneres, Pablo Fransisco, etc. Check them out for some good laughs. They say endorphins are good for you. Makes world a better place when people come around and laugh haha together.

Recent searches – music. I love music. Again, don’t we all? I play a bit of guitar myself (show off!). Once I had John Mayer listened to my songs I sent to his private e-mail and he begged me to quit playing the guitar publicly or he’ll be in deep s**t. Yes, those are his exact words. John Mayer spills a profanity. So sad. Anyway, this dude from Singapore – Hady Mirza, I heard so much about him, not singing though just how popular he was and all, but I only knew how good a singer he was when I found him singing Lagenda (Sheila Majid’s. Sigh. So typical me). He can really sing dude. I just knew. Well yeah I know I’m so out-of-date. Anyway, there’s this song called “Saling Terpesona” sang by Diddy, Yanie, Hady Mirza and Kris Dayanti. I love him even more, or just the song perhaps. It’s such a fun song. Such exciting work of art. I actually dance, in private of course, to that joyful tune (Well something like how John Travolta moves. Heh. Sexy). And owh, “Itu Kamu” by Estranged is awesome too.
Saling Terpesona by Diddy, Yanie, Hady Mirza and Kris Dayanti
Don’t we all just love to love? Love is a great feeling. No one hates to be in love. That process towards it that sometimes can be very nauseating. Well, something like that song by Carrie Underwood entitled “God bless the broken roads”. Anyway, tomorrow is the 14th of February. It is somehow the day where almost the whole world will be celebrating love. I’m somewhat reluctant to use the term “Valentine’s Day” due to religious concern, which explains why not the whole world is actually celebrating this event. Well, whichever way your spiritual conscience brings you to, when it is the season of love, so love is what I want to write about now.
Well, not exactly me writing though heheh. I read an article from Time Magazine issued on January 16, 2008 entitled “Why We Love” by Jeffrey Kluger. So, I just wanted to share some of the stuffs I found with you faithful readers.
Strippers who are ovulating earn higher average tips per hour than those who aren’t or when menstruating. I have no idea what those bombastic terms mean but that surely explains why that sometimes the same woman can be attractive today and not that very eye-catching anymore the next day. Of course it can work the way around, before someone kicks in here with a point where guys tend to leave their women when they got older. Don’t blame us for getting more handsome by the day. Man I wish I could grow old and look like Sean Connery, or Sultan Azlan Shah. Awesome.
A lot of the stuffs in the article are kind of too biological and not that fun to share with. You might get bored and thus, I’ll be cop as boring as well. No, I’m not a boring person. My characteristics from Facebook nominated by my friends said that I’m a crazy and funny person. Shocking.
Anyway, I’m tired of writing already heh. Well, let me just quote some of the materials I find as interesting to me from this article I found;
“Just being attracted to someone doesn't mean that that person is attracted back, and few things drive us crazier than wanting something we may not get.”
“Males or females who volunteer their babymaking services too freely may not be offering up very valuable genes.”
“Even with its intoxicating supply of dopamine, the ventral tegmental couldn't do the love job on its own. Most people eventually do leave the poker game or the dinner table, after all.”
“The problem with romance is that it doesn't always deliver the goods. For all the joy it promises, it can also play us for fools, particularly when it convinces us that we've found the right person, only to upend our expectations later.”
“Psychologist Arthur Aron of the State University of New York at Stony Brook says people who meet during a crisis—an emergency landing of their airplane, say—may be much more inclined to believe they've found the person meant for them. "It's not that we fall in love with such people because they're immensely attractive," he says. "It's that they seem immensely attractive because we've fallen in love with them."”
“Romance may be nothing more than reproductive filigree, a bit of decoration that makes us want to perpetuate the species and ensures that we do it right. But nothing could convince a person in love that there isn't something more at work—and the fact is, none of us would want to be convinced. That's a nut science may never fully crack.”
I'm done. Go find the Time Magazine yourselflah if you interested to read more. To all of you lovers out there, if you're dating tomorrow, drive safely and jangan nakal-nakal heheheh. To we losers, lets go to the gym. Come make ourselves look better for those future lucky ones. I would really love to have a good six packs. Don't we all? :)
I'm bored. I really am. I used to enjoy doing nothing. Sitting around on the porch, walking aimlessly down the Esplanade, Alamanda, drive to nowhere around this kampung Bandar Baru Bangi, etc. During my younger days, boring was like a myth to me. Something that I often heard of but never actually came across to me. It was like my impression on ghosts. I heard about it so much that it's weird it never actually happens to me heads on. Not that I'm wishing, or too curious to meet them on a late night in the middle of a silent deserted small town road (This actually happened and I am grateful that it was a safe half an hour full of suspenses journey). It's like, when it happens, so be it. It probably will suck, but so be it and take it like a man - or a half-matured young adult, heh.
Owh yea, I was saying that I'm bored.
Well, it's not that I couldn't find any kind of entertainment around. It is, sadly, my choice to be so. Why? For several reasons that I most probably won't just easily confide to the general public. You know, it's rather intriguing that when we, or maybe I should stick to 'I', have reach a certain level of boredom, I tend to become more sensitive to my surroundings. Sounds become noisier. Vision become more clearer. The air I breathe become more distinctive. I tend to notice small things around me and the brain actually comprehended (what's the past tense for this word ah?) that these ordinary everyday stuffs are somehow interesting.
This morning when I picked up my 6 years old sister from her kindergarten, right after she stepped into the car, I suddenly noticed some funky smell coming out of her. I asked whether she was playing with paint or some stale/rotten/out-of-date dairy product somewhere during her class sessions. Nope. It was her natural body odour as she described it.
The same thing happened when I then went to pick up my 10 years old brother from his school.
I shouted, metaphorically heh. I am, nevertheless, in shock. Well that is rather exaggerated and too melodramatic. Mm, I would say, I am intrigued by this new finding of mine that I'm starting to lose some of my tolerances for these silly things in life. I'm starting to become bored of things. I'm starting to sense some intolerable smell. I'm starting to care about my surroundings in some sort of ways. Annoyance, agitated, envy, humility, etc.
Today is an important date for many of my friends and some of us who went and had exciting residential school lives. Today is a date which reminds me of so many beautiful things that had crafted such a complete masterpiece of my teenager's life. Today is an anniversary that marked an important point in my life when God had fated me to meet and to belong to a group of friends that I am forever be grateful for His gift to me.
4 February 1998.
I enrolled in Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Ipoh. I enrolled as a member of the school's 42nd batch. I enrolled into a friendship deal for life, and I am forever grateful.
10 years of friendship.

-------------------------------------------------- Down Memory Lane
I just took a maturity test from YouThink.com and the result was somewhat rather shocking to me. I got an F and I was told that I am a helpless little baby.
“Maturity is: The ability to stick with a job until it's finished; The ability to do a job without being supervised; The ability to carry money without spending it; and The ability to bear an injustice without wanting to get even”
-Abigail Van Buren-
Well, a few things in mind to set here;
1. I took the test for fun, with a hint of curiosity about how mature I actually am. 2. I was shocked, not because I thought that I should've been mature. Just the way they put the result with the oversized 'PATHETIC' is kind of disturbing. I was rather insulted. Huh. 3. Well I did expected to be at least something near maturity ke. So sad. So very sad. 4. Ah, making a list is fun. Although I really don't want to stop just here at 3. I am better than this. 5. Well stop at 5 seems adequate. There's hardly such list like "My top 4.. or 4 Things to.."
I took the test again afterward. It's not that hard. It's just a 10 question test so I figured that I should give it another shot. This time I went for all the typical answer that I think a boring mature person would have answer. Well, I thought that if I did good on this one, it possibly tells me that I can act mature if I wanted to.
Surprisingly, in a different kind of shock, I got an A this time and I am then arrived at being mature.
Another list of things in mind;
1. I took the test again because I am in denial of being accused as pathetic. The bloody test was making me insecure and starting to hurt my self-esteem a little bit. 2. I was, again, shocked, but not because of any inappropriate use of font on the result, but because I actually believed, well, a little a bit, on the result given earlier, that I am pathetic. 3. I secretly would like to fail it again just to prove to me that my denial before was wrong and I actually am pathetic. Not because I have low self-esteem. This patheticness could teach me to keep myself humble and give me something to work on as this year's resolutions. 4. Apparently I was right and the test is flawed. Tommy is fed, after puasa for so long. 5. I am back to be that bloody perasan matang handsome boy again.
Does maturity defined as similar to one another? I can tell a guy that he's not a mature dude, but a friend might argue about it and he's willing to put his life on the line to prove me wrong. Is he stupid or my definition of maturity is the ultimate explanation of all? Or it is just simply comes down to how we deal with this kind of situation?
Just for thoughts.
Here's a video by a person, who may be just a high school dropout supermarket toilet cleaner, or possibly an educated PhD graduate who's working a cure for cancer, which my point is that it's up to you to decide to be prejudice or reckless on who wrote it to say whether his or her definition is credible or not to take into our consideration, about what maturity means to him, or her. Well, I think it's just beautiful anyway.
Maturity Doesn't reside in refusal But in acceptance To mature, one has to accept to change Otherwise How will we overcome our rancours? The aspect of something Must not be mistaken for its true nature Therefore A harmful act Doesn't mean a harmful person Acceptance Makes us more mature
Don't we just love YouTube? It reminds me of this one video that I watched last year in one of my classes. It could be nice to spend 5 minutes to watch this small clip made by a professor of Anthropology in Kansas University.
Two videos in one entry. I'm on the roll baby yeah. :D
I certainly got nothing to write nowadays. Here I am typing some stuffs while thinking of what kind of entry should I write next.
Still, no clue.
The literature side of me is taking a terribly long rest after doing nothing near tiring activities. Still nyotnyeting irrelevant stuffs hoping some ideas might kick in while I'm still in this typing mode. The fingers and wrist have already warmed up nicely and it is such a shame to not come up with something pleasant to share with the lovely readers.
I was in the band in high school. Well, not in that cool type sort of band with electric guitars and drum set. Wind orchestra. Brass band. Either one, I'm not sure, but we're certainly no philharmonic. Anyway, I was proud being one of the school's band members. We started as complete amateurs and worked our way up into decent and passionate musicians.
I was exposed to this wonderful world of music (Wow!) when I was about 6 years old when my parents sent me for Yamaha piano lessons - I got interested when I saw my brother practice at home and later hated it after a few years of that annoying piano teacher. After I got into high school, that interest came back with a bonus of everlasting fellow musicians. Awesome. Music is much more fun when learned and practiced among our best of friends and exciting educators. I say, music depicts best of its meaning under positive environment and the purpose of its melodramatic sense of representation is to touch our hearts and minds to their deepest empathy. Wikipedia would give you a different definition but hey, feel free to quote mine anytime you like. *Grin*
After high school, my dream of playing in a band (That cool type sort thingy mentioned above) came true when I found some awesome friends along the way to let me play with them. Until now, I always have enjoyed all the company I had playing such variety range of style and genre. That's the beauty of music. One instrument can funk its way from retro jazz into pop rock rhythm and ballad and creates this wonderful poem that touches our heart so much more than when we're listening to Buletin Utama, no matter how hot the news anchors are (Perhaps).
Anyway, here's a list of some stuffs that I wish to have in this lifetime;
1. Get myself an awesome digital piano, say one of the nice Yamaha Clavinova CVP series? You guys should try one of these babies at any music store close to you. Don't know how to play the piano? Doesn't matter. It'll still sound awesomely cool. Good Roland's would do fine still.
2. Find a decent Martin acoustic electric along with a nice alto saxaphone by Yanagisawa (I am too demanding. I can live with Yamaha anyway).
3. One of the rooms in my future house will be made as my own personal music studio. It'll have its own awesome super computer together with the digital piano, acoustic electric and saxaphone mentioned above and setup for awesome audio making and recording, which perhaps will require several other awesome hardwares. I'll call it the 'Awesome Room'. I will have that room for my own personal use and possibly a bat cave to train my own family band with my kids (Well you know like those Corrs and Hansons type) and we'll go and save Gotham City from evil villains. And owh, making out with Batgirl on the keyboard would be nice. Yum2.
4. Friday/Saturday night chill with a small band at a small restaurant/cafe. Weekdays is possible too. Sandwiches Restaurant could do it on Wednesday night so yeah I figure that will work too. Either way, I always wanted to perform in a small band in places as such. Such pleasant atmosphere. Mamak works fine too I guess.
5. Send my kids to music classes. I'll teach them myself a little bit as well. They will love music whether they like it or not. They'll soon grow to be good at it. One of my wedding anniversary with my wife later on, they should by then know how to play our wedding song, theme song, or whatever they call it these days which I assume the missus would love it, and they'll play it while we're having an awesome candlelight dinner by our house (Assuming we have garden somewhere. If it's a condo/apartment, well, some place nice I think).
There. I wonder whether its achievable. Well, dream big they say and from the book of Secret of the Universe, we visualize and the universe will respond and grant your wishes. Bismillah~
I often come down to Shah Alam every Friday to play basketball at UiTM outdoor court near the sports complex. I love Shah Alam. I grew up there until my family was then moved to Bandar Baru Bangi when I was about 10 years old. It was certainly not a smooth transition.
Coming back to Shah Alam every week indeed gives me a sweet kick down memory lane. What exactly I love most about this town anyway?
1. I got lost in PKNS for 3 hours when I was 5. I found my favourite comic book store since then.
2. Walking from SRK Raja Muda to PKNS then back to Kolej Delima 5 ITM was my first historical adventure as a young 8 years old explorer.
3. I started to love basketball here when I saw this dude shooting hoops alone at that basketball court I mentioned above.
4. Section 3 is awesome. Too many stuffs happened there. Stranded car. Head scar. Constant supply of Alam Perwira and Dewata Raya.
5. Chess is fun there.
6. Good friends. Too bad I hardly keep in touch.
7. Simply, I just grew up there. That is awesome enough.
This listing stuffs is really coming around to me. Syok2. What's next? Top 10 of My Future Musical Fantasy yeah.
I had this conversation quite a long time ago, where we questioned whether do we really need a boyfriend/girlfriend in our lives. I had it when I was about 14 years old I think. Amazingly, it is still a mature question I would still like to ask myself today.
My best buddy just spent a week with me staying at my place. Awesome. A companion I can never replace in my life. During his visit, he brought me into his world, meeting his friends of many differences. Meeting new friends. I'm not that good in making the first impression, especially when given that I don't need to. Although I do think it is worse even when I actually try. Insecurity. I do tend to pull too much effort in impressing people for no reason. I think. Maybe I am not. Well, what do you care if I'm not being honest here anyway. Unless you're stalking me and have that interest in getting to know me better, hola me up and probably we can have a nice coffee chat together.
Anyhow.
Meeting new friends. Well, lets narrow down the scope - say, females? Women, girls, awek, etc. I am single. Let me lay this down that my last real relationship I had ended about 3 years ago. Well, I only had one girlfriend for my entire 22 years of life. Did anyone actually know that? 3 years of being single ain't easy. Well, it's not that hard either heh. Yet, there are times for some small hibbity hop here and there, fun and very enjoyable, but nothing real ever came out of it. At this point, I do think there are several of you might feel connected to this entry I'm currently writing here. The bestfriend, the ex, the hibbity hops and the new female friends. Tricky. It's not something I would like to write about. Yet, I just feel that why not I open up a little something for the sake of love for public literature?
There are a few reasons that why am I still single all this while. Some actually just throw that assumption that I'm somewhat homosexual (Cibey ah aku straight la oi damnit). Some of my friends did asked what kind of a female companion do I actually like. Sadly, I can never answer that question due to several further reasons. Some just, "Lepak la weh muda2 lagi bole la kite enjoy2 sana sini dulu,". Luck. I envy them who has found their true companion. I pity them who assume they have.
The real issue? I hardly even care about any of these stuffs. Maybe. Thoughts are easily made for the routine exercise of the mind. In fact, I still think I haven't open up enough. I haven't spill out the reason why am I actually still single. I don't think I need to. Well, when will I care?
2. Sing, or practice speech or conversation before (or perhaps, during) a date. It can be extra awesome if the toilet has those unusually large mirror. Vain, perhaps. Well I rarely do this anyway so it comes out far from popular on this list.
3. Read. Common. I have my Shin Chan and my sister's Cleo, Cosmopolitan and many other female oriented magazines to company me during my loo time. Female magazines are awesome.
4. Introspection. I would say that this is probably the most commonly favourited by many of us, besides peeing and reading. Such perfect ambience for us to sit down surrounded by white clean tiles and cool air which help us tremendously getting to fall into that thinking zone. I got most of my ideas for blogging here. Nice.
5. Try handset games. Yes, I got my Snakes, JetFighter, Bubbles highscores here. I wonder how would I do if I bring my laptop and play Dota here. Hmm.
6. Check and reorganize my wallet. It seems that my wallet keep having this many nonsense rubbishes that came out of nowhere. Flush them down flush them down.
7. Conversation with thy neighbour. I rarely done this before. A few weeks ago I watched this Harold and Kumar Trip to White Castle movie and there's this scene they have 2 chicks talking with each other in their respective toilets. Seems fun.
8. Battleships. Watched in the same movie above. Never done it. Would love to.
9. Rock 'n' roll. I love to bring my guitar into the toilet. Something about the interior space there that gives me that exciting acoustic experience where every single sound or tone that comes out from each of the strings appears so solid and such distinct. It's like having my own personal jamming studio in my toilet. Awesome.
10. Think of a better list. This is crap. Flush them down flush them down.
Educational readings. Do people actually read thoroughly? Well, perhaps that I often jot down some academical entries that I know that most of you won't actually finish or even start reading them. Sustainable issues, teleological cosmos, cultural variation management, politics, Freud's theory for the conscious brain, personality development, sports, etc. I, which may believe, like to read. Well, a certain range of literature products at least. Comics, Reader's Digest, Time Magazine, Remaja (Unfortunately yes), blogs, Yahoo articles, certain columns in the newspaper. Not novels though. I do wish I can make myself to like reading those super thick with super small writings and melodramatic graphic on cover books. I do, however, realize it is an excellent form of literature to read and yet, I still find myself drifting far away from it, sadly. Either way, reading is always good for you. Despite the fact that I can only absorb a small amount whenever I read anything, that small percentage of knowledge gained gives my everyday life a bit of value for me to take into my good night sleep.
Anyway, there are many ways to attract our attention into literature. Graphics is one of the most popular method where people decorate their websites nicely for us to browse through, modern and hip designed magazines, or simply just a hot model on cover of FHM or even Computer Geeks magazines today. I did mention before in a past entry that it would be nice for me to put on more photos in this blog thus it will become more attractive and you suckers would love to see more photos than spending some time reading each small and boring alphabets on a line. Anyway, putting that aside, there's another interesting method to draw reader's attention that I would like to share with you guys.
The Power of 10 Ideas by James Poniewozik for TIME Magazine
We are kind of obsessed with lists as such; Top 10 Games of the Year, Top 10 Sexy Models in Tibet, Top 10 Things to Do in the Elevator, Top 10 of Top 10 Lists, etc. Indisputably, it is fun for both listmakers and list readers as well. How come this simple yet magical concept of literature amazes us so much? Here's a few ideas by James that I think rather interesting;
1. God made us do it. Yes, many religions use this concept of listing stuffs. The Ten Commandments, The Five Precepts in Buddhism, The Five Pillars of Islam, etc. Well, it's easier to read and remember that's for sure. Although I think it is also easier for me to remember the names of the 25 Prophets of Islam through a Nasyid song by Raihan. Well, that's another story anyway.
2. Words suck! Numbers rule! At least, that's the operating principle of much media today. Newspapers need to be like TV. TV needs to be like YouTube. It's the era of PowerPoint. It is more fun to watch Top 10 NBA Plays on YouTube than reading the result report on newspaper ain't it? Duh~
3. They are web-friendly. Lists are inherently bloggy. They're bite-size, they're opinionated, and guaranteed to incite a conversation, which most probably into a kind of argument. Owh well, it is interesting nonetheless.
4. Branding! And it is not just in the sense of selling stuffs. It makes them definitive and catchy - a number and a catchphrase do wonders. FHM 100 Sexiest Women of the Year. Awesome.
5. Because the other guy is a moron. List is a way to state authority, and a way to challenge one as well. Do people really enjoy reading a list they totally agree with? No! Good lists engage readers, enrage them and flatter their ability to think of better examples. A list isn't truly right unless it's a little bit wrong. Fascinating.
6. We crave justice. In much of our world today, everyone is special and every contribution is valuable and every child gets a trophy for playing. However, in a list, there are values. Things are good enough or they are not, and that someone has made a damned decision about it. (Although I am rather confused with this. Oh well, James said so)
7. This is a hype society; we're constantly focusing on the next thing, the new thing. The year-end list is our single chance to pause, to see what held up over time, and to note, by omission, what we got overexcited about. Remember Evan Almighty? Well, neither do the Top 10 movie lists.
8. Because the universe is random and senseless. The alternative to sum up a year in any field with a big list is weaving its elements into some grand what-it-all-means theory. But sometimes life is just one damn thing after another. And so are lists: they impose order without making false connections. On a Top 10 list, apples and oranges live together in juicy harmony.
9. Because life is short. In the end, a list is about one thing: the person who wrote it. Making a list is like making a mix CD for a crush; you do it in the hope that if someone sees what you believe matters and is great in the world, he will see to your core and know who you are. Lists are a means of asserting identity, saying "I was here". Especially at the end of the year, when we reminisce about time past and think about how much time we have left. While we are still around, we want to be known and we want to be heard.
10. Finally, because if you put numbers on it, people will read anything, however trite, trivial and insipid, from beginning to end.

Carbon Footprint Measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide.

Well, how is this actually concerns us? Everything. Literally. Anyway, you can google them yourself if you are curious and interested on building some self-conscience on how every steps we take, again literally, is causing impact on our surroundings.
Here are a few things that we could actually try and think about (Yes, I ask nothing more but a mere thoughts of yours into this issue. Anything afterward is purely up to you) to help save the environment;
1. In public toilet, it is a lot better to use the electric hand dryer than the paper towel. The hot air only consumes much less energy that is needed than making and transporting paper towels and manages the waste. Statistic aside (Which is proven by the way), using hand dryer is more hygienic (Doctors said so).
2. Dishwasher or by hand? Good news guys, dishwashers are better for the environment. Well it really depends on how you manage them by hand anyway. That if you are really particular about how much water you use when washing the dishes by hand. Either way, as grateful I am for the modern science today, get the latest dishwasher, stick to full loads and use no-heat and air-dry option and you’ll be saving our environment a great deal.
3. Washing machines. Get the front-loaders, no excuse. Check for energy and water ratings as well. Clean the filter, use minimum amount of detergent, stick to full loads, again, and try to use cold water. Again, the Earth is smiling back to you.
4. A statistic for you; by eating 3kg less red meat in a year is equivalent to reducing household water by half. A tip; try for Meatless Tuesday.
5. Hybrid cars aren’t that a big breakthrough in saving the environment. In monetary terms, you might as well use the extra money for rainwater tank, energy-efficient appliances, etc. You still can go for the cool cars; try the smaller ones fit for your use and choose the most fuel-efficient in that range. Voila. However, hybrid car is still a good addition in our project in saving our environment.
That’s about it for today. Panjang la plak. I think I can continue this later tomorrow, next week or whenever I feel like it. There are other stuffs that we can try. Green is in nowadays. The way you live. The way we make buildings. Yes, from my line of studies, we can have homes, in the future, that generates our own electricity, a lot cheaper water bills given efficient water usage system especially when we're receiving rain all year around, healthier living environment with better ventilation and air circulation. Be concern. Be green. Have a better year by reducing our ignorance. I'll try do the same and together we can make a difference.
It is now officially 2008 and yes, I had a few rehearsals to prep myself before stepping into this new beginning invented under the Gregorian calendar. Not that I was too busy with myself until that it has been so long since I last updated this blog. Yet, who cares anyway.
Last year, at this exact date, I wrote about the history of Janus, introspection and the wish for the coming new long year. Ironically, to sum up this recent past year, it occurred to me that I have done too much of learning histories that is nothing near necessary in my life, thinking too much of pointless things that it weight too heavy for my healthy burden and accumulating quite a high ratio of wishing over adequate actions. Will it be different this year? Yes, and that has been the same thing that has been going on and on for the past few mature years of mine. We improve lives and not just starting from the first day of a year, it can be during the first day in a week or even the first second of a day. We improve lives as much as we can as often as possible. Yet, no this phrase is not and never adequate for us to turn our lives around.
How do you see your own life? What kind of metaphor do you tend to use to mirror yourselves in? For instance, do you see yourself as a painting; from a white clear canvas you have drawn and colour yourself up into something like a fine Van Gogh masterpiece in the making, or a highway where you're in a car driving on the road that may direct you in several possibilities of direction of events, or a frying pan where you cook a nice meal sprinkling with sugar and spices to prepare the final exemplary meal perfect for God in the after-life.
I will keep my own thoughts and perspective in life to myself. I am happy to share them with you over a nice cup of teh tarik fit on a nice small round table with 2 or 3000 stools. Coffee is nice as well and a nice small puff pastry would be excellent.
For now, as it may benefit you readers greatly, I have found an excellent way to improve your brain power, which I took from Reader's Digest published for December 2007. Learn by heart a list of things to do, up to 10 or more jobs, for a day that incorporate a route to something. It could be during your walk to your workplace, or going to do the laundry - try to mentally link each activity with one location; newspaper at 7-Eleven, coffee at Kopitiam, dropping clothes at laundry, etc. Then ask yourself these questions; What task follows the newspaper? What to do after laundry? Where to get coffee? And exercise yourself filling up your everyday life with more exciting things to do and try to add more activities as you become more happy going through these stages. I have not try this yet. So, come my friends and join me to improve our lives better everyday.
Have fun and I wish you all a great new year of 2008.
